Chopin at Shaw Symphony Stage

So we went to Singapore Botanic Garden, the Shaw Symphony Stage to be exact, on the 30th May 2010. There was a Chopin recital during that day. This was my 2nd visit to the Botanic Garden, however it’s my first to the Shaw Symphony Stage. I have to admit, I was quite impressed with the way the place is built. One should really visit this place if there’s an interesting musical show.

All in all, I enjoyed the time. Especially since the music was Chopin’s. A couple of known scores were played; Nocturne and Études mainly.

Yea, the picture is a bit blurry, this new job of mine seems to have a side effects on my photography skills. Can’t really keep my hands steady anymore nowadays, maybe it’s due to the lack of sleep.

Just Another Working Day

I haven’t really found a real chance to go on a extensive photo hunting lately. Nevertheless, this condition does have its advantages. One of those is to allow me to better appreciate the ordinary things that are happening in life.

Everyday, here in Singapore, we board on the MRT to and from the office. Most of the time busy with our own thoughts, as much as not appreciating the surroundings. Having stayed in several countries, I do admit that this country has its own unique appeal.

Anyways, nothing much to speak about this photo technically. Though I’m still wondering why most of my EXIF is ruined after exporting it to the site.

Wedding Ring

One of the most sacred event in a person’s life, is when they are committed to walk hand-in-hand throughout life. Well, of course during the time there will be some hardships. Those moments, are the one I hope to help to lessen if they see these kind of pictures. Taken during their time of committing to each other.

Anyway, enough of the emotional writing. Shot is taken with my Tokina 20-35mm F/2.8. Nothing special technically.

Playing Alone

It’s a black and white shot for today.

Once I pickup my camera and frame this shot, I realized that this will make a nice black and white. The contrast is just nice due to the two major object, the fountain and the boy.

It has truly been a long while since I last updated this shot. Hopefully those who enjoys it will still be looking forward for an update. These past few months, something came up that kinda took all my energy and concentration. Now that the dust is starting to settle down, I’m also hoping that I can get back to this photographic activities.

This is a glass mat, taken at a restaurant. When I went there with my girlfriend. The food is nice, but since this is not a food review blog there’s no point to continue talking about it.

I took this using an old Canon Powershot A610 that I recently acquired. It’s a real gem, and can even shoot RAW with proper CHDK firmware. I just loved the manual focus feature, and looks like that I’ll use this little guy for those everyday macro shot. No special lightning technique, though I used a couple of tableware to reflect the light so it looks nicer. Hope you guys liked it.

Splashing the Stone

Trying to create a pseudo crown on this one. And I believe I did quite okay.

This is taken with the usual water hose splashing towards a statue. Then, it’s just a matter of a tripod setup. I wish I had a strobist setup at that time, it might create a more interesting lighting.

Heavy Rain

Heavy rain, for some people is perceived as an issue. It incurs additional trouble when you’re travelling. Moreover traffic is usually more packed. However, it only depends on your mind’s eye as there’s always two side of every coin.

For instance, a heavy rain puts me in a position in which I need to get a cab, that unfortunately incur additional cost. But then again, I got this nice shot.

Shot, is simply taken handheld. Just a random snap.

Flower and Water

A test shot… The flower is actually the background. What I’m trying to do is capture the center of the flower as a focused image and center of attention within a bubble of water.

Usual setup, macro lens and tripod.
